The Story Behind the Tie Dye
The BRK Company was founded by an 8 year old boy named Brecken, with a love for tie dye. On any given day he could be found in a tie dye shirt and most likely petting a dog.
When Brecken was 7, he was diagnosed with dyslexia, a neurological difference in the brain that causes a delay in reading. After struggling with school and reading Brecken needed a confidence boost, so he launched a business doing something he loves. Tie dye has become a passion for him outside of school and truly brought out his best self. He loves to experiment with different kinds of tie dye and color combinations.
When planning the business Brecken chose the letters BRK from his name which stands for Brave Resilient and Kind. All qualities that he finds to be important in life. The logo he chose shows the path of successes and struggles through ups and downs but he wanted the design to end going up because resilience always ends with success.
Brecken has big goals as a business owner and has a dream to own a whole tie dye trailer to sell his items around town someday.
Although school and reading have been a struggle for him, Brecken takes on the challenge everyday. He recognizes the importance of literacy and books for kids and how it helps other struggling readers. Brecken has chosen to pledge 10% of his sales to buy books for kids who may not have a lot of access to them. At this time, BRK has already donated over 200 books!
